Big things come in small packages. And that is certainly true with Top Block. The tiniest lil carrying case packs a ton of fun.
So here’s the deal. Stack your blocks. The number 2 block on bottom, 3, 4, and then “Top Block” on top. You then toss the bean bags at the tower trying to knock them down. When you topple the blocks, you earn the value on the top most remaining block in the tower. Besides the initial throw, you get two tosses to accumulate the most points. But wait, there’s more. There’s like six other ways to score. I’ll let you buy the game to find out, but they are super creative and keep the game going. Games are played to 15 but you must land exactly on the 15 to win the game. Otherwise it’s back to 11.
This game is super addictive and takes way more skill than I thought. You obviously want to keep going for the top block so you get the 4 points but as mentioned before you can score in other ways. The game winner occurs when you knock out both or one of the middle blocks and the top block lands face up on top of another block.
There is also a Cutthroat Mode. In this mode you play to exactly 9. You can use each throw to add to your own score, or subtract from the opponents score. You just have to say you’re subtracting before the throw.
Top Block is super portable and the perfect addition to any occasion. It is also super durable. Literally those blocks won’t get damaged unless they are run over by a truck.
Huge fan of top block! A must add to any game collection.

This game is an ABSOLUTE classic. As far as tabletop games go, Binho might be the GOAT. Play the game and you’ll see, but if you don’t believe me, the proof can be found by entering any city’s name + Binho on IG and boom there’s an account. It’s that popular. Just look at everyone tagged.
What makes the game so great is the simplicity. Opponent 1: flick…..Opponent 2: flick. That’s it. Just hit the marble and score a goal. At first you may think it’s impossible. But find those angles, zero in on the straight shots, and figure out how to bank the marble and you will see the skill involved.
@binhoboard can customize almost anything you want into the pitch. I have the slick black one, but I’ve seen green grass, striped, collegiate, and pro sports teams. They are constantly improving the board too. The early days had string nets, but now they are plastic. The defender pegs screw in and there’s an elastic border to provide space to flick when the ball is near the edge. The only thing I would wish for is a depression in the goal to help with judging a score. Sometimes the ball goes in an out so fast you can’t see.
This game is a 9/10. Super fun. Portable. Challenging. Addictive.
]]>Get ready to channel your inner John Daly because this game was meant for a party at the beach. LTG combines the scoring of cornhole with a quality putting sesh. The game comes with two putters, a couple balls, two flag sticks and two cups. Unlike some other putting games, these putters are the adequate size for an adult. No more back pain for bending over too much.
Since you’re playing on the beach you need to dig a hole in the sand. Well LTG has you covered. The cups are very innovative in that they have jagged teeth at the bottom. All you have to do is twist them right into the hard packed sand and they submerge themselves right into your new playing surface.
Gameplay is simple. Draw a half circle around the back of the cup. You get 3 points for making a shot and one for putting it with in the half circle. But let’s face it, you either make the shot or you don’t. I play that you only score when you sink a putt.
Putting is difficult as is, but reading a break on the sand makes things even harder. So when you sink it in, it’s oh so satisfying. Without a doubt, I recommend that all beach goers and golfers purchase this game. ⛳️🏌🏿♂️🏖

How is it that the Nordic countries develop all the best games? Klask comes from Denmark🇩🇰 and let’s just say it is one of the best table top games ever invented. This game is unlike any other game that I’ve ever seen or played. It is incredibly fun and takes a whole new skill set to master the moving of it’s pieces. With games like this, it’s no wonder Denmark keeps getting rated the happiest nation worldwide!
Klask has hints of air hockey, tastes of flick soccer, and a dash of magnets. What?!? Magnets?!?! Yeah, magnets. In Klask you move around your pieces holding a magnet under the game board. Points can even be scored if you lose control of the magnetism or get too close to the three small free standing magnets on the board. Here are all the other ways players can score:
It definitely takes some practice to figure out how to move around your magnetic piece, but once you master this first step, you’re ready to go.
The biggest things to watch out for is moving your piece too close to your own goal and too close to the rogue magnets. Personally a solid strategy for me is to knock the stray magnets into your opponents half of the field, hoping they both attach to their piece at some point.
Now that it’s winter, I will be cracking out all my analog tabletop games. @klaskgame is definitely one of my favorites, which I plan on playing all the way till the snow melts and the forecast says 60 degrees!
]]>Cold beer on a Friday night, a pair of jeans that fit just right and Red Neck Horseshoes to play on site! Hey y’all I think I just found the perfect game to play while listening to some country tunes and drinking a brew. Redneck Horseshoes is a new yard game that will surely captivate anyone lookin for a good time.
Born in the great city of Charleston, SC this southern gem is a fun new toss game with a twist. Surely inspired in the wee hours of the night, RNHS involves throwing rubber weighted bottles into a slanted bucket. Easy games are the best!
Game Play: Toss the bottles into the bucket for 3 points. Closest to the bucket gets an extra point. Leaners are worth 2 points. See, just like horseshoes.
The Toss: I love the finesse involved with this throw. You definitely want to give the bottle a perfectly timed flip to get the ideal trajectory. It’s oh so satisfying sending the bottle through the air.
Pros: The game is super easy to learn/teach. Very portable. Can be played with 2-4 players. Obviously fun!
Cons: Not a huge con, but you need to weigh down the bucket so that they don’t flip or turn. The game does come with two bags that you can fill with sand though.
Overall, this is one fun game. I definitely will be playing on the beach when it gets warmer out, but until then I’ll be playing in whatever Redneck setting I want.

Believe it or not I haven’t reviewed this ace of a yard game! Putterball is definitely in the upper echelon of games. I mean how could it not? It combines two of the best games: golf and beer pong! It’s perfect for a party setting, backyard bbq, or for just practicing on the green.
Putterball is a super portable, fold up green with six holes in a pyramid shape on each side. The green is 2x12 ft so perfect for mastering those need to make shots that will reduce your score. It comes with two mini golf sized putters and two balls. There are 12 circular plugs for the holes. So when you make a shot you plug the hole. The plug fits in flushly, so if your ball were to roll over the top it would be unaffected.
You will honestly have hours of fun playing this game. I love playing it outside but as you can see it’s perfect for the indoors too. Either way, the game folds up like an accordion and comes in a box with a sturdy handle for ease of transport.
I will note that if you are above 5’11” I would recommend using your own putter. Mini golf putters are kind of short, but if you out from the ground and don’t stand on the green you should be A-Ok.
Since the game folds up, when you lay it out to play, there will be some creases in the game that cause some major bumps for the ball. Over the course of 15mins it will start to lay flat. But since you’re essentially playing beer pong, who cares, shut up and drink.
Overall, I give this a strong 8.5/10. Chicks may dig the long ball, but the game is won on the green.
]]>
Shut yur mouth when I’m reviewing to you! That’s right, listen closely about this very new and exclusive game. I was lucky enough to get to trial Shutball while at the yard games world championships.
This brand new game is a rapid fire type of game. The goal is for you and your partner to sink all your shots and clear your sides before your opponent. When you make a shot you close the square. Very easy and very fun.
Pros: super cool concept that involves a lot of skill and quick shooting ability. It encourages great teamwork. Really gets your competitive juices flowing
Cons: It is definitely on the larger side so right now the game is only offered in upstate New York. I hope it can either be scaled down or find a way to get distribution throughout the country.
This game would be a great addition to any PE class. I could also see this being a great game at a farmers market. Definitely something that would stir up some interest and get people to wander over.
]]>Eiffel Tower, Sears Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa! And now Tower Ball. There is something just great about towers and there is no difference when it comes to this new game!
Tower Ball is the creation of @calibergames. It is a game for all ages and has many different game modes. It is super portable, easy to put together, can be played with many players, and it’s extremely durable.
My favorite game mode is a team game that involves the players trying to get as many points as possible at each side of the tower. The side with one hole is worth one point, the side with two holes are each worth two points and so on. Teams go around throwing the balls trying to get the most points. But like I said there are many different modes that all are equally as fun.
The game comes with a high quality backpack that you can store the pieces in for easy transport. Tower Ball is on the larger side, but since it is flat, you can easily store it under a bed or against a wall. The pieces fit together with a sliding and locking mechanism. The first three are easy to connect but the last can be a little tricky. Once you get the hang of it, it definitely becomes easier.
Overall, I thought that this was a really nice new game. I love that you can play with anyone, there’s plenty of fun gaming options, and you can even do some trick shots.
]]>This new game is OUT OF THIS WORLD 🌎! Get it? YOU FO. Out of this world. Ok bad jokes aside, this brand new game is actually from out of this country. @youfosports hails from the Netherlands and is taking over in popularity. I was lucky enough to test out this fun yet challenging game and couldn’t be more proud to be an ambassador.
It is definitely a mix between lacrosse and frisbee, but don’t be fooled it is very unique. One side of the head of the stick is shaped to utilize your leverage to quickly scoop up the open centered flying object when it’s on the ground. The other end is like a rhinoceros horn used to catch the disc on. The toss is a little different than lacrosse. You still use the same hand action but at the end you will want to twist your top hand and pull your bottom across your body to send the disc on a flatter trajectory toward your partner. The disc definitely leaves you in a mesmerizing gaze as it sores through the air.
The game can be played like ultimate frisbee or as a back and forth passing game. You can get creative with game play but honestly the excitement of catching the disc was good enough for me.
@youfosports is a big hit in PE classes in Europe and I can definitely see it catching on here. It was one of the more popular games being played at the PE conference that I presented at in November.
Overall, I give it a solid 8/10. Challenging, portable, inclusive. Let’s help @youfosports grow their market in the states! That last video is a straight up 👽
]]>Take me out to the golf game, take me out with the crowd. Chip in some golf balls and make the shot, I don’t care if I don’t make a lot!
Golfer Up is a brand new and super fun game that helps improve your chipping all while having a great time. Using the general rules of baseball and the skills of golf, this game is in a league of its own.
Basic rules: you and your opponent each shoot until you get three outs; a ball in the hole translates to a base runner on that base or a home run for the top three holes; if you hit the box that’s a strike; miss completely that’s an out. I’m sure you can figure out the rest.
Besides the innovative gameplay and the attractive design, what stood out most was the ease of set up. Not only is the game very light and transportable, but everything packs right up into a briefcase like shape. When you are ready to play just release the latches, unfold the game, take out the home plate/balls and start playing. This is a huge differentiating factor, as most other golf games require a good deal of set up or are fairly large to transport.
I also love the mini foam golf ball sized baseballs and the home plate shaped chipping mat. This is a creative way to play to the theme. It was surprisingly easy to manage the control of the balls too. Even though they are much lighter than a real ball they still take a similar flight pattern. The only downside to this game is that you probably shouldn’t use a real golf ball. It would dent the hell out of the metal surface.
Overall @golferupgame is a winner in my book. Word of advise, make sure you take a few cuts before you start your game!
PLAY BALL!
]]>It’s a golf club, it’s a lacrosse stick, NO! It’s Fling Golf. This new sport is traveling faster than a speeding bullet, sweeping the nation, and making its mark on golf courses everywhere.
I first heard of this crazy cool contraption on ABCs @sharktank and knew I had to have it. But what is it really?
The Fling Stick utilizes the same technology as a golf club but has one very different modification on the end, a lacrosse-like plastic cradle. This is where you load up your golf balls for launch!
If you know the rules of golf then you know the rules of Fling Golf. The only major difference is that you are allowed to have a running start. On drives you must release before you cross the tee line and fairway shouts you are allowed 5 steps away from the hole before taking your running start. Putting is the same, just turn the club chamber side down and hit with the striker pad.
Not having played much lacrosse growing up, I found it very challenging at first. However, once you figure out the point of release, the ball can really launch! There are many different throws that will help you with your game. The Overhand, Low to High, Sidearm, and the Flop Shot are just a few of the techniques that will set a newbie apart from the pack.
Now you may be asking, do golf courses mind if you play Fling Golf on the course? The answer is no, not at all. If anything they are better for the course than an actual club, because you won’t make a divot. In fact, the grounds crew all thought it was very cool and they took a few try’s themselves.
The stick takes up no more room than a driver and you can just pack it along with your other clubs when you’re golfing. Although I can see your bag eventually switching over to just Fling Sticks one day. This game has the potential to catch on and become as popular as frisbee golf some day.

Sometimes I just feel lazy. But even when I’m lazy I got the itch to play some games. Well now there’s the perfect solution, @lazysaxs.
Whether you’re lounging on the beach or posting up on your couch, this game is great for any setting, indoor and out. The thing about this game is that it’s played in a seat and there’s almost no moving around at all. In fact, points are deducted for sacks thrown too far away from the goal. That’s like the best rule ever!
The premise of the game is to obviously land the sacks on the plate or in the bucket. Three points for making it in and one for landing on the plate. You also get different points for landing it on the rim or edges.
The reasons I like this game is because it’s very simple, it’s light weight, and there’s virtually no set up. It really is the lazy mans yard game. Just plop down on your thrown of choice, grab a beer and some appetizers, then start tossin. I could see it being great at a tailgate, a campfire, the beach, or definitely while watching sports on TV.
It is made of plastic, so my only concern is the game getting smashed by a giant cooler during transport, but otherwise they are good to go. I’m excited to break them in more during football season.
]]>🚨@Thebackyardgolfgame Review🚨
This game has a big nostalgia factor for me. When I was younger, my dad and I used to map out courses in the yard and chip whiffle golf balls at obscure targets. However, our targets or holes were mainly telephone poles, bushes, or lampposts. If only I had @Thebackyardgolfgame around back then to play with. This new and improved game would have made our competitions so much more fun.
@Thebackyardgolfgame consists of three large snap together rings, a chipping mat, and several colored whiffle golf balls. The rings consist of a soft foam-like shell with an inner plastic skeleton that snaps into each other to form the circle. They are very easy to snap together and take apart. Each ring is different in size. Basically, if you make it in the smallest ring you get more points than if you make it in a larger ring.
This game allows for plenty of creativity when setting up. You can set it up in any formation or play it whatever way that best suits you. I personally like the target style, where you set each ring inside one another and shoot for the most center ring. But you can also put them at different distances, put them in snowman formation, or do whatever else you please.
Backyard Golf Game is great for amateur golfers and pros alike. They create the perfect visual needed to focus in on a shot. I’ve seen it being played at golf tournaments as a side game on a par 3 and let me tell yuh, nothing gets your gambling juices flowing more than this game.
]]>🚨@waddiescanada Game Review🚨
Canada a country known for their nice people, hockey, bacon, and NOWW yard games. @waddiescanada is a new hot tailgate game that is sure to be a crowd pleaser! I’ve been talking to them for a while and man was it worth the wait.
The Look: very sleek and clean. The wood has a nice finish and the red top looks sharp with all the attractive circles. I love how they did their branding too. The name is very bold and readable. Perfect for fellow tailgaters to see when walking by all the action.
The Play: the way you toss the Waddie is very similar to playing washers. But the new and improved projectile fits comfortably in the hand. Inspired by a caster cup, the Waddies take fun and crazy bounces. They spin, jump, swirl and slap right on the board. You really gotta get that perfect toss or you’re in for a nice surprise. We even saw them land in the hole and bounce right out.
The Scoring: (straight from their website) You get three points for sinking a waddie in the hole. If your opponent sinks one on top of yours it cancels it out.
You get one point for every Waddie that's on the board and closer than any of your opponents Waddies. Think curling.
The Pros: the game is super fun and gameplay is simple. The game is small and portable. There is a lot of action and scoring. The unpredictability of the Waddies is super exciting.
The Cons: they made the red top removable so that you can easily get Waddies that made it in the hole. This however makes it a challenge when carrying the games because the tops falls off.
Final score: 8.8/10! Perfect amount of challenge and skill required leads to a super fun game.
]]>I don’t want nickels, I don’t want dimes, all I want is @quartersback! Ok that intro was only so so, but this pseudo yard game tabletop game is 🔥.
The object of the game is to obviously toss a quarter into the holes. I’ve now played this game about 500 times and its one of the most addictive games I’ve tried. It probably has to do with the fact that I want to get the auto win so badly. Thats nearly impossible though. And even though the other holes are larger, it’s harder than it looks to make a shot. Granted I was playing on a giant conference table, but throwing a quarter is odd and it definitely makes it tough.
The best part of the game is the 5 point play. Sometimes the coin will bounce off the board, land on the table, and start spinning. If you have a light touch and can catch the coin on its end with one finger, you get the points. I’d say I was only able to do this 1/10 times. It is so rewarding when you can land this bonus!
Quartersback is very easy to travel with and definitely easy to learn and play. This will certainly be a huge hit at tailgates this Fall. The game can be fast paced or slow depending on how you play. The only negative would be the difficulty to find quarters once they hit the ground. My suggestion is to just have a few extras nearby and find the lost ones later. Problem solved, happy throwing!

]]>POPcorn, POP up breweries, POPsicles, and POPdarts! How are things with the word POP in it always so awesome?!
Popdarts is the new indoor game that is taking the Yard Game World by storm. These guys have over 300k followers across all social media platforms and its one helluva fun game. The game play is similar to bocce. First you stick the orange marker on a surface. Then players take turns tossing their pop darts at it. The closest to the marker gets three points and every other dart that sticks counts for one point.
I can go on and on about how much I love this game but I’ll spare you. Here are some of the highlights. Pop darts is super portable. They are light weight and can easily fit in any luggage or backpack to bring to any function. The game is super addicting. There is nothing more satisfying than hearing the “Pop” of the dart when it lands and suctions to the surface. Pro tip: it can successfully suction to your friends forehead. Lastly, it can be played almost anywhere. Obviously glass works the best but go wild with your court. Cross room, kitchen fridge, or sliding glass door are all goodies.

]]>What do brands like Ferrari, Rolex, and Apple all have in common? Quality. They are in a league of their own. They use premium materials and are crafted to perfection. Ringo is certainly in this realm in the world of yard games.
Ringo sets are hand crafted and detailed with precision. The wood is so sleek and smooth. And the well thought out design allows the game to fold up on the wall as to not take up too much space. Ringo also has a gorgeous score board right on the board. I cannot stress how high the quality is in the construction of this game.
Ringo is a fairly simple game. You take the ring and try and swing it on to the hook. I recently did a review on a table top version but the wall version is a little harder. Since the distance is greater your swing has to be a lot more dialed in. Ringo is certainly addicting. Believe me you’ll find yourself saying, “I’m not leaving until i get one more.”
With the premium quality comes a bit of a higher price tag. But you get what you pay for. Ringo will not break and it looks and functions way better than any other wall version that I’ve seen. Most wall versions are difficult to set up, because you have to attach the string to the ceiling and measure all types of angles. With Ringo all you have to do is measure a height of 5ft and then nail or 3M tape it to the wall.
Ringo is the perfect game for a home bar, a brewery, a bar/restaurant, or backyard patio. It’s an almost mindless game that keeps the good times rollin!
]]>Move over Marco Polo, step aside toypedo, I got a brand new pool game for you! Skimbe is a foam frisbee for the pool and it’s guaranteed to entertain for hours. Trust me, your hands will be pruny way before you’re ready to stop tossing this disc around.
As the name suggests, the Skimbe is a frisbee that is used by skimming across the surface of water. It can be challenging for first timers, but if I can teach my girlfriends mother to do it, anyone can learn how. Simply hold it like a frisbee, give it a slight angle toward the water, then cock it back and release. The Skimbe will glide gracefully across the water right to your target. Typically I’m skeptical about these pool toys. That toypedo thing never went straight and it always began sinking like four feet after it was tossed underwater. I was shocked how well the Skimbe traveled. If you’re good you can get it to go over 50 feet easily. It even worked well in the low tide of the ocean. The only time it won’t work well is when throwing into the wind or if there are a ton of waves.
The Skimbe comes with two discs and an inflatable stake. Although the discs are fun on their own. You can play a bocce ball-esc game called Skim to the Pin. Basically you toss the Skimbe, and the closest person to the pin wins. I actually used the pool latter as a goal and tried shooting my Skimbe in between the pipes. This was a ton of fun. I promise you will be the most popular person on the beach. I had at least 5 people ask me what it was.
]]>One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish. Play fishbowl and you’ll have a happy soul. I never really understood Dr. Seuss, but I do understand the appeal of Fish Bowl.
Fish Bowl hails from Southern Cali and just like the SOCAL lifestyle, this game embodies super chill vibez. The creator of Fish Bowl is a mastermind engineer and this is evident in his work. The game screams precision. Just like the toss you’ll need to land it in the center!
Let’s start with the parts. The bottom half opens just like a fold up chair. The top half folds like a taco and opens up to a full circle. Both pieces snap easily together with four snap spring clips. Since the pieces fold and collapse so easily, they fit snugly into the carrying case. Oh and it’s light weight.
GAME PLAY: Fish Bowl offers six different game modes to play. My personal favorite is “Rage Bowl.” It is literally the yard game version of Rage Cage or Speed Quarters. Otherwise, if you’re just playing casually, it’s 1 point to land the bag on the surface and 3 points to land it in the hole. Be careful though, the nylon surface is pulled taught and your bag may bounce or slide right off the top.
I am a big fan of the circular designs because it takes up way less space than cornhole. You can also play in any direction that you would like. I also think this design is pretty innovative because it can be used as a nice table at a tailgate or family cookout.
]]>Chip, Chip, Hooray! Finally a lawn game that will help me master my short game! @chippo is perfect for golfers and backyard athletes alike. It combines the principles of cornhole and the action of chip shots in golf. Scratch golfer, here I come!
Chippo really thought this out well when developing their masterpiece. It includes two boards, two chipping mats, and some high density foam balls. These balls are a little lighter than real golf balls, but they are the same size and take the same flight pattern. You will want these because you don’t want a stray shattering a window, trust me I’ve been there, not fun. Plus you can technically play inside if you have enough area. Clubs aren’t included, but if you’re practicing golf with a junkie 56° wedge, you won’t need to worry about hitting the course any time soon.
The game is definitely large and a little heavy, but if it was any smaller, it would be impossible to land your shots in the green area and roll them up into the holes.
If you’re not already a golfer there is definitely a learning curve. But that’s the beauty of Chippo! It’s a fun game that is also practical. You’ll be out there earning a green jacket in no time!
Just remember: keep your head down, swing like a pendulum, get under the ball, and follow through!
]]>PIPFALL, appropriately named after the dots on dice (pips) is a fun new alternative to playing cornhole. Instead of using regular bags, you use giant pellet filled dice. The best part is, you can just play with the cornhole board that you already own.
The dice themselves are actually made from the same quality material as a cornhole bag and they fit comfortably in your hand. Sure they roll a little, but its no different than a slider in cornhole. Throwing with arc lands the dye in place, while a lower trajectory toss will allow it to roll and knock off your opponent.
PIPFALL has three main game styles, which include Quick Play, Race to 100, and Tournament Play. Each game is a little bit different but they all have fun quirky rules. In Quick Play, you use net scoring, but if the dye goes in the hole, you subtract 3 pts. Some other fun rules in Tournament Play include: land on 50 -> deduct 30 or land on 88 -> swap score with opponent.
PIPFALL even comes equipped with an app. I love when games do this, it makes keeping score so much easier and you do not have to worry about keeping track of paper directions.
]]>Blockhead is up for the game of the year award! I can honestly say this is one of the most fun games I’ve played. Period!
Blockhead is the mix of a frat favorite beer die and a yard game classic cornhole. The object of the game is to shoot the high density foam blocks into the holes on the board or for the block to bounce off the board and hit the ground. The only caveat is that the defense can score points too. If a shot bounces off the board, one partner can tap the block to their other teammate and score a point. Check out the highlight reel I made, we even got tricky with some kick shots!
Whether you’re playing a casual game with a drink in hand or gettin crazy and diving all over the ground, you’re in for hours of fun with this game! The block takes crazy bounces which adds to the excitement.
Blockhead is perfectly constructed and the boards have built in handles, block holders, and clips to hold the sets together. The only downside is the weight. Don’t plan on carrying the game for long distances. Anything over 100 yards can get tiring.
Blockhead is yet another product of the Northeast, which has quickly become the epicenter for backyard fun!
]]>🚨@spearathletics Ring Toss Review🚨
Here’s the thing. I’m all about the fling. Especially when it involves a ring. I’m talking ring toss people! And what better version to do it with than @spearathletics.
I used to think this game was only for children or our geriatric friends, but I was wrong. I honestly had a great time playing. I will say this location certainly helped the level of fun though. Look at that view!
The main advantages of this game is its portability and ease of assembly. It comes in a small but quality zip up bag that can literally be carried anywhere. I’m tempted to bring it on my next flight and play in the aisles. The 6 wooden pieces screw together easily and you’re ready for action instantly. It is perfect for playing indoor, outdoor, beach, camping, and pretty much anywhere you could imagine. Not to mention the rules are obviously super simple and it’s fun for all ages!
I also love the difficulty of the game. Since the ring is made of rope, it makes it more challenging to throw. I suggest holding on to the wooden fastener and throwing it frisbee style but to each their own.
As far as excitement, you’re going to get what you put into it. Grab a brew and you will be A-ok in my book!
All though the game isn’t much to look at, it can be fun in the right setting. Don’t count the classic game of ring toss out just yet.
In the words of Kevin Gates, “Countin money while they ring, ring, ringin
Trap jumpin I'm ring, ring, ringin”
Fun fact: ring toss can be commonly known as quiots and dates back to 1836 England. More fun facts like this are detailed in my book!
]]>Skill, patience, and finesse is what it takes to win at the game of Hooks. This game has always had a special place in my heart. Since middle school I used to play it in my friends basement. The only problem being, only one person could play at a time. And let me tell yuh, I am not a patient person. Fast forward to today and all my life’s problems have been answered by a nice company called @craggygames.
Let’s talk highlights:
Great craftsmanship! Each and every unit is handmade and burned by one of the owners. Its classic yet antiquated looking design fits in with any aesthetic.
Portability! Gone are the days of attaching the game to a wall and only being able to play one person at a time. I’ve brought mine to breweries and everyone wanted to be my friend. It’s super light weight but it’s made from sturdy hard wood.
Thrilling! This game is challenging and entertaining. Nothing gets the competitive juices flowing like hearing the ring clank right on the hook. There are so many fun variations of the game to play too. Race to ten, first to hit the hook, opposite hand, and as pictured the ever famous shot race!
All in all, @craggygames version of hooks is a winner! Yard Games Girl and I even settle our chores by playing a few rounds. It goes a little like this: “First to ten hooks doesn’t have to fold the laundry” “Deal!” .....I end up losing :(
]]>Not 1! Not 2! But 3 holes on this board! Triple the holes, triple the fun!
Triple Threat Cornhole is a new take on the regular old game of bags aka cornhole. In this version, you MUST land your bag in the hole to score points. Anything left on the board does not count. You also must land exactly at 21 or you go back down to 15. Plot twist: there’s other game variations you can play and they are all located on a score card on the back of the board. Try baseball or football to spice it up! I must admit, I was a little skeptical of this game at first, but after playing I quickly realized it was heaps of fun!
The bags are made of good quality fabric and they are filled right to that sweet spot level. Triple Threat Cornhole boards come in two sizes, large and small. I played both versions and let me tell you, I was a huge fan of the smaller version (short jokes need not apply). It makes it more portable and since it’s a different game than cornhole, I felt it made more sense that it was a different size. I also really like how they have the score board on the back. It is magnetized so you can pull it off and once you do, you’ll find a secret compartment for the scoring markers.
This company is in its early stages, so I’m excited to see what changes they develop moving forward. One thing for sure, they will definitely take the Yard Game World by storm with this game!
]]>Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, give a man a Castaway and you feed him for a lifetime! I’m pretty sure that’s how the saying goes anyways.
Not only is Castaway a super fun game but it helps you master the art of angling. Games that serve a purpose and teach a skill get major points in my book! This game comes with a weighted lure and an inflatable cornhole shaped target. Both pieces have Velcro on them, so when you throw out your line it can stick to the target. The target has 7 boxes to aim for with points associated with different fish. Two thumbs straight up for this design!
As far as materials, everything was good quality. The bait sticks right to the board and you didn’t have to use too much force reeling it back in. I also am confident you won’t have to worry about the inflated target being punctured. My only concern might be the stickiness of the surface if the game was being played in water and got wet.
I need to preface this segment with the fact that I am very ADD and haven’t been able to sit still long enough to fish in a long time. That being said, I sucked at this game. However, if I did play long enough, I GUARANTEE I would improve. The inventor of the game says his 8 year old can nail the board 6-7 times out of ten. So with a little practice I’m confident anyone can hit the board.
Castaway can be played in any setting. We played at the beach and conveniently anchored it down through the loops with some sticks. The game floats too, so I think this would be a blast to bring out on the boat and play on a lake! It could even be a great side game while ice fishing.
Currently this is a prototype, but the game is set for launch by this summer! Word on the street is the new version has some cool new colors and a couple other nice features. Be on the look out for Castaway and get ready to kick some Bass!
]]>It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Nope, it’s a puck!
The name of the game is Puckleboard and it involves flinging a mini sized puck through the air with the goal of landing on a board to score points. It’s a cross between shuffleboard and cornhole and you guessed it, it’s fun!
One of my criteria for a good game is ease of play. The game folds right out into the three piece target and then it’s ready to go. The game play is self explanatory too. I didn’t even pick up the directions before playing. The large red section is worth 1pt, medium white zone = 2pts, and the smallest blue zone = 3pts. Just like shuffleboard, the best part of the game is deciding whether to land the puck right in the zone or to sauce it over and try to bump your opponent out.
I love how it is held together with elastic cords. It keeps the game stable and makes it easy to fold up for transport and storage. You also don’t need much room to play because the boards only have to be about 8 feet apart. The game itself is a little heavy, but the bag it comes with is durable. You can definitely make it from the car to wherever you’re playing without hurting your back.
I was surprisingly pleased with the materials. The pucks are actual hockey puck rubber and they have great slide-ability on the fiber glass boards. I will say the game gets dirty easily, but I like to think it shows character!
